Jan. 30, 2026 – Shabbat Shira

A Prayer for Shabbat Shirah: Keeping the Faith
on a Long Hard Journey

God Who parted the waters for our ancestors,
Source of miracles Who taught Moses and Miriam the Song of the Sea
Creator of the universe Who rescues the helpless from destruction.

Be with us as you were with those who went before us.

When we are doubtful, strengthen us with confidence.

When we are fearful, guide us with hope.

When we are squabbling like children, grant us maturity.

When we are speaking recklessly show us wisdom.

Our ancestors mocked Moses before the waters parted.

On the dry shore they readily believed in him.

Help us to be steadfast amid the storm.

Lend us focus when our faith is being pushed to the brink.

Let our modern-day miracle be devoid of supernatural feats.

Lead us lovingly, patiently in the long hard journey to a better life for all who dwell on earth.

When we reach that distant shore, we will sing like our ancestors on the safe side of the sea.

May no amount of real-world danger ever stop us from believing that the miracles we dream of are worth working for.

May this be our blessing and let us say:

Amen.

Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi David Wirtschafter
