As much as we hate to do this, we don’t have a choice: The 2021 Lexington Jewish Food Festival, set for Oct. 24, is canceled and won’t be rescheduled this year. With Kentucky in the throes of a COVID crisis, we couldn’t wait any longer to make this painful decision.
Because the food festival is held mainly in our social hall, it’s irresponsible to invite hundreds of guests into an indoor space where we’d be putting them — and all of our congregant volunteers — at risk.
We considered doing takeout, but our food festival is about welcoming people to TAI to spend time with us and share our culture, not “here’s your food, now go.”
When COVID is under control, our pop-up deli, TAI on Rye, will be back more often, and we’ll add some food festival favorites to our already great menu of sandwiches.
Thanks to all who already volunteered — or planned — to help with this year’s food festival. You’ll be hearing from us again when the time is right.
