Religious School

Thank you for your interest in Temple Adath Israel’s Religious School! Our school is based on the premise that our spiritual world rests on Torah (study), Avodah (worship), and G’milut Chasadim (acts of loving kindness). We are committed to providing a warm, exciting, vibrant, and nurturing environment for our students. We work with parents and teachers to help our students:

  • Develop a positive Jewish identity
  • Apply Jewish ethical beliefs to daily life
  • Gain a fundamental knowledge and understanding of Jewish practice, history, and language.

TAI Religious School welcomes students from 4-years-old to 10th grade.  We partner with the Institute of Southern Jewish Life (ISJL) and utilize their curriculum, which includes 10 key content areas:  Community, Culture and Symbols, God, Hebrew and Prayer, Israel, Jewish History, Jewish Holidays, Jewish Lifecycle Events, Mitzvot and Jewish Values, and TaNaKh (Torah, Prophets, and Writings). Beginning in 3rd grade, weekly instruction begins with a 45-60 minute Hebrew lesson followed by our Jewish Values curriculum. We are also extremely proud of our enrichment activities, which include art, garden, library, music & movement, and Rabbi Time.

Our students’ engagement in Jewish life does not stop with Religious School. TAI students are encouraged to participate in Jewish Lifecycle Events including Consecration, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, and Confirmation. We host a monthly Family Shabbat Service and we observe and celebrate Jewish holidays together as a school and congregation. Students of all ages are invited to join our Junior Choir, Middle and High School students are encouraged to participate in Youth Group, and our post-Confirmation class is welcomed back to the school as Madrichim, assisting in a variety of important roles.

For the 2023-24 school year, we are offering classes for PreK through 10th grade (Confirmation). Our Temple Tots class, ages 18 months – 4 years old, is also going to be in session, meeting once a month on the second Sunday of the month. Just like last year, we are very fortunate to be able to offer a $50 tuition credit courtesy of the generosity of former congregant Marty Solomon and the fund created in his name. Register below now. Classes begin on Sunday, September 10 at 9:30 a.m.
