In honor of those who serve and have served the US on Veterans Day, we are proud to share this video of Cantor/Chaplain David Frommer of the U.S. Army. Son of the late Barbara Hymson and cousin to the Baker family, David attended TAI and Sayre before going to college, the Israeli Army, Cantorial School and several years in a congregational setting. We are tremendously proud of Chaplain Frommer’s commitment to our country and his extraordinary accomplishments. We hope to bring him back to Lexington for a Scholar-in-Residence Shabbat sometime in the near future.
The Torah portion for the week of November 5th, Toldot, includes the famous story of Jacob coercing his older brother, Esau, into selling his birthright for a serving of stew. In this video, local chef, caterer and TAI Member, Barbara Goldman Nartowicz, demonstrates how to make her favorite “Birthright Stew” recipe, inspired by the biblical narrative. Enjoy the video and feel free to post your Birthright Stew recipe.
